弘前市民会館でクリスマス礼拝を行いました。本校の体育館から市民会館に場所を移して７年目になります。今年も生徒の父母・家族，卒業生にたくさん来ていただきました。「さやかに」と「ハレルヤ」を歌うのを楽しみに来る卒業生も多いようです。
Today the Christmas Pagent was held in the Hirosaki Civic Center. This is the 7th year the pagent has been held at the civic center. As usual, many parents and graduates came to see the performance. Most were looking forward to singing "O Holy Night" and "the Hallelujah Chorus".

明日の市民会館でのクリスマス礼拝に向けて体育館でリハーサルをしました。しばらく雪の消えていた弘前も昨夜からの大雪で交通機関も影響を受け学校に来るのがたいへんという生徒も多くいたようです。
Today all students practiced together for the Christmas Pagent coming up tomorrow. Many students were late to school because heavy snow impeded traffic and the buses were running late. After the rehersal was the offical closing ceremony.

バレーボール部が全国私立高等学校バレーボール選手権大会に 出場するため東京へ向かいました。 ２１日午前９時３０分から仁愛女子高校（福井県）と町田市立総合体育館で対戦 します。
Today the volleyball team left for the All National Private Schools High School Volleyball Championships. Their first game will be against Jinai Girl's School from Fukui-ken at 9:30am on Sunday.

高校で学年別に2時間ずつ礼拝堂でクリスマス礼拝のための音楽練習を行いました。
Today students from each grade practiced singing for the Christmas Pagent in the chapel. Each grade practiced seperatly for two hours. First grade in the early morning, second grade in the late morning, and the third grade in the afternoon.

クリスマス前には、ネイティビティ（Nativity）が職員玄関に飾られます。これは新約聖書に記されたイエス降誕の馬小屋を再現したものです。本校のものはアメリカの宣教師から寄贈されたもので陶器製です。飼い葉桶の幼子イエスとマリア、ヨセフ、羊飼い、三人の博士、馬、ラクダなどの人形が沢山並んでいます。
In the front entrance there is a Nativity scene on display. It tells the Bible story of Jesus' birth in a stable. The figures, including the infant Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, three wise men and barn animals, are made of ceramics. The set was donated by some American missionaries long ago.

高校２年Ｅクラスの担当礼拝でした。一人の生徒が修学旅行で行ったイタリアで考えたこと、もう一人が聖書の「隣人を自分のように愛しなさい」という言葉について話してくれました。 その後、クラスで“Silent Night”（きよしこの夜）を英語と日本語で歌いました。
Today homeroom 2E led the morning chapel service. Two students spoke. The first student reflected on her experiences in Italy. The otherspoke about what it means to love his neighbor as himself. After that the class sang "Silent Night" in English and Japanese.

今日は二回目のキャロリングの日です。約１７０名が４班に分かれてバスで静光園、千年園や国立弘前病院など合計８箇所にうかがいました。 私たちの歌声を聴いて下さった方々の中には聖愛高校を卒業された９８歳の方もいらっしゃり、私たちの方が元気をいただいてしまいました。 その後全員が合流して元寺町の日本キリスト教団弘前教会とＪＲ弘前駅でも歌いました。
Today was the second day of Christmas Caroling for Seiai students. The students split into four groups and brought the sounds of the season to everyone. Among the audience, there was even a 98 year old Seiai gradute. After that all four groups gathered at Hirosaki Church and then proceeded to the station. About 170 students participated.

高校３年生の選択家庭科で、クリスマスのケーキ、ブッシュ・ド・ノエルを作りました。イチゴのサンタクロースや、小枝チョコレートのログハウスなど、いろいろ工夫を凝らして作りました。とても楽しそうでした。
In the elective home ec. class today, third grade high schoolers got into the season by making "Christmas Yule Log" cakes. Complete with strawberries, santa clauses, sticks of chocolate, etc. Everyone had fun making these delivious cakes.

聖愛ハンドベルクアイアが日本キリスト教団大鰐伝道所の礼拝で、“あら野のはてに”や“きよしこの夜”などクリスマスの讃美歌を演奏しました。初めて聞く方たちも多く、美しい音色に聞き惚れていました。次は２３日（火）に弘前市民会館で行われるクリスマス礼拝でも演奏します。
Seiai's Music Club played Christmas carols on the handbells at a country chapel in nearby Owani for this morning's Sunday service. Their next performance will be Tuesday, December 23rd during Seiai's Christmas Pagent at the Hirosaki Civic Center.

理科の授業の一環として応募した弘前大学主催の『科学者発見プロジェクト』に二つのグループが見事「科学者発見プロジェクト賞」を受賞しました。そのうちの１グループ中学三年生三人は、昨日から理科教師の小野寺先生とTRONSHOW2009にICチップやユビキタスの最新技術を学びに東京へ行っています。今日は日本科学未来館で楽しく過ごしたとのことです。一方中学校では推薦入試・一般入試が行われました。
Yesterday three third year junior high students went with their science teacher, Mr. Onodera, to Tron Show 2009 to see the latest IC chips and electronic engineering in Tokyo. This trip was in collaboration with the science department at Hirosaki University. In other news, the junior high entrance exam was held today as well.

放課後に希望者で“キャロリング”に出かけました。高校生は約５０名で山郷館とサンアップル老人ホームへ、中学生は約３０名で弘前大学医学部附属病院にうかがいました。キャロリングは讃美歌を歌ってクリスマスの喜びを伝える行事です。私たちのできる小さなことを楽しみに待っていて下さることは本当に嬉しくありがたいことです。１６日（火）には４グループに分かれて市内の病院や施設を周ります。その後、17時半頃弘前教会で合流して教会とＪＲ弘前駅前で歌う予定です。総勢170名になる予定です。
Today after school students went out Christmas caroling to nursing homes and other care facilities. This Tuesday four separate groups of students will go out to different areas around the city and converge at Hirosaki Church at about 5pm. From there they will proceed to the station for a final round of caroling. The purpose of these events is to bring the joy and message of Christmas out to the public. The public is defiantly glad to hear these sounds of the season.

一日雨。自転車置き場に敷き詰められた落ち葉に雨に濡れています。途中激しい雷もありました。試験も終わりクリスマスと冬休みを待つ日々です。
Today there was a thunderstorm. The bike parking lot is now covered in wet fallen leaves. With final tests finished, students are now just waiting for Christmas and Winter Vacation.

高校２年Ｄクラスの担当礼拝でした。修学旅行で沖縄の戦争の跡を訪れて過去に起こった戦争の恐ろしさを知り、これを未来に伝えていくことの大切さを思ったというお話でした。その後、クラスで讃美歌II編167番（われをもすくいし、Amazing Grace）を英語で歌いました。
Students from homeroom 2D led this morning's chapel service. A student talked about how she had seen the remnants of war in Okinawa during the school trip and why it is important to tell future generations about the horrors of war so that we will not repeat our own mistakes. After that, the class sang the hymn "Amazing Grace" together.

生徒総会がありました。今日は先の選挙で選ばれた生徒会役員による最初の生徒総会で役員の追加承認などが行われました。
This morning during first period there was a student council meeting. Students who were recently elected were "sworn in" to service.

聖愛高校出身で現在医師になっている方が学校を訪れました。中学の教室に出向いてくださり、聖愛での思い出や、自分の体験をもとに門をたたきつづければ夢はかなうこと話してくれました。在学時の教師も数名集まり、とてもなごやかな雰囲気でした。
A graduate of Seiai High who is now a doctor visited the junior high today. She talked about her time at Seiai, her experiences in becoming a doctor, and her aspirations. Several teachers also came to hear her speech. There was very relaxed in informal atmosphere.

高校中学とも試験の最終日。朝からずっと小雨ですっきりしません。試験の結果はすっきりしたのでしょうか。事務室前にあるヤツデが今年も花を咲かせています。先日の重い雪でつぶれたり折れたりしています。
Today was the last day of both junior and senior high final tests. A fresh rain feel this morning. Hopefully our students arrived fresh and ready to go as well. The bushes in front of the office are blooming, although they were buried in the recent snow last week.

高校試験の２日目。中学校の試験も始まりました。夕方、宵の明星（金星）と木星が揃って見えています。(１日には三日月も近くにあったのですが、写真を取り損ねました) 空がまだ明るい時間でも判ります。写真は16時45分の様子。左の明るい方が金星、右に目を移すと木星です。
Today is the second day of final tests for high schoolers, and the first day for junior highers. This evening Venus and Jupiter were visible in the twilight sky. The star on the left is Venus; on the right is Jupiter.

高校は２学期期末試験の第１日目。曇り空ですが暖かく小鳥たちが集まってやかましいほど鳴いていました。サンシュユの木には今年もたくさんの赤い実がなっています。
This is the first day of final tests for the second trimester. It's cloudy but warm today, the birds are gathering and singing. And the dogwood trees are full of red berries this year as well.

中学１年生がロングホームルームでクリスマスカードを作っています。 日頃お世話になっている所や、今月中旬に行われるキャロリングで訪問する所に お届けする予定です。
This morning during homeroom first grade junior highers made Christmas cards. Around mid-December student will also go Chrsitmas caroling.

土曜の夕方から断続的に降った雨も上がり、久しぶりに岩木山が姿を見せました。日中の日差しが暖かく過ごしやすい１日でした。
Starting on Saturday evening, there were intermittent flurries. It's been a long time since we could see Mount Iwaki. Today was a nice sunny day.
