The theme of the monthly English Chapel this morning was "Jesus is a Friend". The conclusion was memorable: "If you are a good friend, or if you are a bad friend, today Jesus wants to be your friend."

弓道部の練習風景です。 弓道部は先週行われた東北高等学校弓道選抜大会で3位に入賞し、3月に行われる 全国大会に出場します。 高校１，２年各７名、中学生２名で頑張っています。
Last week our Kyudou team won third place at the regional finals tournament. So they will be going to the national finals in March as well. Seven high schoolers as well as two junior highers will be participating at the national finals. We know they'll do their best.

With the rest of the students gone, the usually bustling hallways are strangely quiet. Because of the flu, only third graders are continuing their regular lessons. Here is an elective third year music class practicing the handbells. They plan to perform at the upcoming graduation ceremony in March.

保健室です。今週は具合が悪いと来室する生徒がたくさんおり、クラス毎の風邪・インフルエンザの罹患数の統計などもあって大忙しでした。学年閉鎖が相次いで、放課後やっと一息つきました。期末試験を来週にひかえた高校３学年はまだ元気で、明日は高校３年だけ登校します。
This week the nurse's office has been very busy. Many students with influenza - as well as other colds - have come into the office non-stop. Today it was decided that all students except third grade high schoolers will be dismissed until Monday in order to rest up and not catch the flu. The nurses now have a chance to rest at the end of the day.

高校推薦入試合格発表です。インフルエンザのため、昨日の高校２学年に続き今日は高校１学年が６校時の授業を切り上げて明日、明後日と学年閉鎖になりました。遠くに見えるのは下校している１年生です。
The results for students who took the Seiai entrance exam interview are now posted outside the front door. Also this week we had a small influenza problem. Yesterday all second grade high schoolers were sent home to avoid catching the flu. Today, all first grade high schoolers were dismissed at the beginning of sixth period for the same reason. In the background, you can see the first graders heading home.

始業式です。昨日まで道路のアスファルトが見えていたのに昨夜からの雪で真っ白な始業式になりました。本校は始業式も讃美歌を歌から始まります。
Today was the first day of school, and the opening ceremony was during first period. The ceremony opened with a Bible reading and singing of hymns, and then there was a word from the principal. The ceremony was closed in prayer.

9日から11日まで，弘前文化センターで青森県中学校選抜美術展が行われました。聖愛中学校３年生の描いた絵が青森県教育長賞に選ばれました。
This painting, made by one of our own third grade junior high school students, was chosen for a special award by the head of the Aomori Board of Education. It was on display at the Hirosaki Culture Center this weekend.

中学校の入学者説明会が行われました。在校生が校歌とハンドベルの演奏で歓迎しました。 なお、第二回中学校一般入学試験は２月７日（土）に行われます。
Today there was an orientation meeting for new junior high students. Current students welcomed the new students by singing the school song. There was also a handbell performance. For any students still wanting to enroll at Seiai, the second junior high entrance test will be Saturday, February 7th.

今日は中学１年生のスキー教室でした。場所は昨日と同じ。天気もよく、高いところからは海が見え，新雪をまとった木々も美しく気持ちよく滑ることができました。生徒たちは時間いっぱいたくさん滑りました。帰りのバスではほとんどの生徒がグッスリ寝ていました。
Today first grade junior highers had their ski lesson at Ajiagasawa as well. The skies were clear, and you could see the ocean from the top of the run. The trees were covered in a powder of fresh snow, and it felt good to glide down the mountain. Students tired themselves out skiing and most slept on the bus ride home.

中学２年のスキー教室が鰺ヶ沢のナクア白神スキーリゾートで行われました。太陽は隠れていましたが穏やかな気候でした。スピードが出てうまく止まれず、何回も転んだという生徒もいましたが，楽しんでいた様子です。
Today second grade junior highers had their ski lesson at Ajigasawa Ski Resort. The weather was cloudy, but the winds were calm. Here students practice speed stops. Students fell down a lot, but still they seemed to be enjoying themselves.
