校庭の木々もすっかり夏の葉になってきましたが、エンジュ（槐）の新しい葉はまだ若々しい緑でとてもきれいです。大木なので見上げないとなかなか気がつかないのですが。(アカシアと書きましたが間違いでした)
This is an enju tree on our school grounds. Most trees around school are fully decked out in their summer leaves, but this tree's leaves are still fresh and soft.

英語礼拝の日です。ジャスティン先生の友人がアフガニスタンで殺されたことから「敵を愛しなさい」という言葉はとても難しくなった。いまは「敵を愛する」強さをお与えくださいと祈るしかありませんと話してくださいました。今日は２度目の献金日。アジアキリスト教教育基金へ捧げました。
Today was the monthly English chapel service. Justin Elder (me, the guy writing this) gave the sermon. I gave a sermon on how loving one's enemies is difficult in light of a friend's recent death in Afghanistan. We also took our monthly offering today which we will send to the Asia Christian Education Fund.

３年Ｅクラスによる担当礼拝です。Ｅクラスは英語英会話系の生徒がいるクラスなので 英語で礼拝が行なわれました。お話しは留学生の親川幸君でした。 １年間の留学生活を振り返ってくれました。憧れの日本にこられたこと、 驚いたことがたくさんあったこと、友人がたくさん出来たことなどを 英語と日本語で話してくれました。親川君は７月にカナダに帰ります。
3E class gave the chapel service today in English and Japanese. Canadian exchange student Ko Oyakawa gave the sermon in both languages. After that the class sang "Amazing Grace" in English.

第８８回全国高等学校野球選手権大会青森県予選の組み合わせ抽選会がありました。 激戦のＢブロックに入りました。初戦の相手は八戸高校です。７月１６日（日） 八戸長根球場で行なわれます。応援よろしくお願いします。 （写真は記者の質問に答える主将白戸球太君）
The draw for the summer baseball tournament was held today in Aomori. Seiai's first game will be July 16 against Hachinohe High School. The picture shows baseball captain Kyuta Shiroto talking to a reporter.

創立記念礼拝が１時間目に行われました。説教者は木造教会の宮島星子牧師です。マタイによる福音書１３章の 「種を蒔く人のたとえ」からお話をしてくださいました。 弘前学院が蒔いた種が日本全国で発芽・成長し、また 新たな種が蒔かれることを期待しています。 弘前学院は120年の時を刻みました。
Hoshiko Miyajima from Kizukuri Church gave a sermon today. June 25 is the anniversary of the founding of our school.

野球部は夏の大会に向けて合宿２日目に入っています。21日が夏至とのことで19時26分でもまだこのとおり明るい(日没は19時12分)。全員頭を丸めて気合いは十分です。
The baseball team is having their second day of training camp for their summer tournament.

花の日礼拝です。生徒が持ち寄った花を花束にし、 駅や交番など日ごろお世話になっている方々や入院している友人 に届けます。
Today we had our annual Flower Day chapel service.

放課後、高校 ３年Ｃクラスの宗教委員は、弘前市役所を訪問し、 相馬錩一市長に花束をお渡ししました。 市長は「弘前市のために頑張ります」と話して下さいました。

3C students brought a bouquet to Hirosaki's mayor, Souma Shouichi. He said that he will do his best for Hirosaki.

調理部で作ったということで、生徒が中学校職員室まで冷やし中華を持って来てくれました。先週は失敗したけど今回は上手にできたとのことでした。失敗することも大切ですね。もやしの調理が大変だったそうですがとてもおいしくできていました。
The junior high cooking club brought hiyashi-chuka to the teachers' room today.

高校３Ｆによるクラス担当礼拝です。 今日は聖書の「狭い門から入りなさい。滅びに通じる門は広く、その道も広々として、そこから入る者が多い・・・」（マタイによる福音書７章１３節）の部分から、いままでの自分の生き方や考え方を振り返るお話のあと、ファゴットの伴奏で讃美歌を聴かせてくれました。
3F class gave today's chapel service. There was a sermon followed by a wonderful song sung by the entire class.

弘前学院大学が姉妹校のウインスコンシン大学から２人の学生を受け入れています。今日は教育文化理解の一環として中学校、高等学校を訪問しました。高校の英語英会話系の生徒と懇談の後、授業や設備を見て回りました。写真は天体ドームでのひとこま。
Two exchange students from Hirosaki Gakuin University had a tour of Seiai today. Here is one of them with some Seiai teachers and students in our observatory.

中学校で中体連表彰式をおこないました。バドミントンと体操の２人の参加でしたが、それぞれ好成績を残しました。
The junior high school had an award ceremony for the two girls who participated in the recent sports tournament. The two girls competed in badminton and gymnastics. Both did very well.

保健室の中です。中学校もできたこともあって忙しくなり、今年から２人の教師が担当しています。ひとりは宗教主任の兼務です。
This is the nurse's room. Since we now have a junior high school the nurse is very busy, so this year we have two people working in the nurse's room. On the left is our nurse Ms. Abe and on the right is our chaplain Ms. Ishigaki.

ＮＨＫ全国高校放送コンテスト青森県予選会に参加しました。何とか予選を突破し、決勝に進むことができました。明日また頑張ります。（残念ながら18日の決勝では全国大会に進むことはできませんでした）
One of our students entered into the reading portion of the Aomori preliminary NHK broadcasting contest. Unfortunately she did not make it past the elimination round.

生活教室二日目。まとめのプログラム。自分をとりまく人間関係、自分のつながりについて考えているところです。

今日と明日、高校1B,1Dの生活教室です。グループディスカッションをしているところです。「他己紹介ゲーム」というゲームの要素を取り入れています。

弘前地区中体連夏季大会バドミントン競技女子シングルスの試合で１年スタンダードコースの安田梨紗選手が優勝しました。各中学校の３年生を相手に初戦から１セットも失わずに初出場初優勝を達成。県大会の上位シードも決定し、活躍が期待されます。
Junior high school first year student Risa Yasuda won the Hirosaki Junior High School Athletic Competition's badminton singles' tournament. She did not even lose a set against third year students.

今年度初めてのクラス担当礼拝です。３Ｇクラスが担当しました。担当の生徒が聖書にかかれている「やもめの献金」の話から、献金に対する考えや思いを話してくれました。その後クラスでハンドベルの演奏を聴かせてくれました。この日の礼拝堂入場は高校３年生と中学１年生でした。中学生にとっては初めて見るクラス担当礼拝です。
3G class gave the chapel service this morning. There was a Bible reading, a short sermon, and then the class performed a piece on the handbells. Both third-year students and junior high students attended the service.

演劇部公開練習がありました。朗読あり、演劇あり、漫才ありの40分。20人ほどの観客を得て頑張りました。最後のアピールは「部員がほしい」でした。
Seiai's drama club put on a show for us after school today in the chapel.

高校１年の教育課程説明会がおこなわれました。本校では各自の進路や興味に合わせてかなりの数の選択がありますが、しっかり勉強させますという科目が多くて気楽に選べないのが苦しいかもしれません。
Seiai has several different study tracks that students can take in addition to many elective classes. In order to explain these different options to first-year students we held an information session today.

最近校地内にカラスが目立ちます。近づくと頭上の木に移動して鳴き、威嚇します。仲間がよってきます。近くに巣を作っているのでしょうか、危険を感じます。
There have been too many crows around these days.

野球部の後援会主催で保護者対象に「選手のための栄養指導と調理指導」を行いました。 講師は後援会会長夫人で栄養士の植山さんです。 約１時間の座学のあと、調理実習に入りました。ちょっとした工夫が 栄養の吸収を左右するなどの説明があり、さっそく調理に取り組んでいました。
A dietitian came in to do a cooking class for the baseball team's parents association. The dietitian is the wife of the parents association president. After an hour-long class, they cooked for their sons to practice what they had learned.

演劇部が練習をしています。真ん中にいるのは中学生部員です。来たる１４日（水）一緒に公開練習を行います。４時半礼拝堂です。ご覧になりたい方はぜひどうぞ。
Seiai's drama club is practicing for a trial performance of a play they will perform on June 14 at 4:30 pm in the Seiai Chapel.

高校では教育実習生が研究授業をしています。本校の卒業生だということもあって、生徒にも励みになるようです。
The student teachers, who all but one graduated from Seiai, will finish this week. The past three days they have done lessons in which many teachers come to critique and advise them on their teaching methods.

早朝から激しい雷で 6:40 頃から停電。礼拝直前の 8:45 頃復旧した。もう少し長引けば休校になったかもしれなかった。
The power went out this morning due to a thunderstorm, but it recovered before chapel. If it hadn't, school would have been cancelled.

高校総体報告会がおこなわれました。各部の報告の後、賞の伝達がおこなわれ、友情杯が全校生徒にお披露目されました。７年ぶり９回目の友情杯です。
A representative of our student government received the Yujou-hai (Friendship Cup). It is the 9th time Seiai has won it and the first time in seven years.

友情杯（青森県高校総合体育大会女子総合２位）を獲得しました。学校に遅くまで残っていた生徒、教師が出迎えました。玄関前で優勝のバレーボールの選手たち、生徒会、春藤校長と記念撮影。早々と優勝を決めたボウリング部が入っていないのが残念。
We won the Yujou-hai (Friendship Cup) that is given as a prize to the school who came in 2nd overall in the Aomori Prefectural Sports Competition. We got first place in the volleyball and bowling tournaments.

バスケットボールは、準決勝で八戸西高校と対戦。84-69で敗れました。後半は相手にリードを許す試合展開でしたが、決してあきらめることなく果敢に攻撃をしました。善戦と言っていい試合内容だったと思います。３学年がバレーボールと２つに分かれての応援。生徒たちも懸命に応援しました。
The basketball team played well, but lost the semifinal game. Half of our third-year students went to Hachinohe to cheer them on. (The other half went to Aomori to cheer for the volleyball team).

ソフトボールは順調に第１戦を突破しました。７対０で青森商業を 破りました。明日（４日）は優勝候補Ｎｏ１の聖ウルスラ学院との試合です。 ９時から弘前市運動公園多目的グランドで行われます。応援よろしく お願いします。
The softball team won their first game. Their next game is tomorrow against St. Ursula Gakuin High School.

高校総体の開会式。76名の入場行進者にSPGを加え３時間かけて八戸へ。試合では応援役のSPGも今日は注目をあつめる主役。時間をかけて練習した成果が発揮されました。
This is the opening ceremony of the Aomori Prefectural Sports Competition. 76 Seiai teachers and students marched while SPG cheered them on.

いよいよ明日は高校総体の開会式。中体連も含めて壮行式を行いました。各部がそれぞれ決意表明をしました。校長先生からの激励のことばをいただきSPGと全校生徒に送り出されて試合にのぞみます。
The opening ceremony of the Aomori Prefectural Sports Competition is tomorrow. Today we held a pep rally for the teams going to the competition. The teams told us they would try hard, the principal gave a message of encouragement, and then SPG (our cheerleaders) led the students and faculty in a series of cheers.
