よく晴れた日、きれいな小鳥のさえずりで見上げると首に赤い色のある小鳥が数羽、桜の芽をさかんについばんでいます。姿と習性から「ウソ」という鳥でしょう。最近この桜の花が少ないように感じていたのはこのせいか。今日は中学校では期末試験を前に、対策講座が開かれていました。
Today with tests coming up, most junior high teachers are reviewing for final tests in their classes. The weather was warm today, and you could hear the chirp of small birds in the air.

卒業礼拝がありました。中学、高校の卒業生のための礼拝です。司式が高校３年学年主任の鎌田先生、説教が石垣先生で、校友会の代表も出席していただけました。
Today during first period there was a special graduation chapel service for graduating high school and junior high students. The third grade head teacher, high school chaplain, and even an alumni board representative came to the service.

2006年にスタートした聖愛中学校が初めての卒業生を出します。中高一貫校ですが併設型ですので、いったん卒業してそのまま４月に高校に入学となります。卒業式は高校と一緒に行うことになり今日から中学生も練習に加わりました。
Since the junior high started three years ago, this will be the first graduation ceremony to include junior high students. Most of these students will proceed onto Seiai high school, but still they will take part in the ceremony with the graduating high schoolers. Today they are all practicing for the ceremony together.

高校２年Fクラスの担当礼拝でした。 沖縄の修学旅行で体験した糸数壕の暗さと、外に出た時の明るい光をもとに、聖 書に記されている「光の子として生きる」とはどのようなことか、考えたことを 話してくれました。 その後、クラスで讃美歌二編144番(すみわたる大空に)を歌いました。
Today homeroom 2F lead the morning chapel service. The speaker spoke about his experiences in the underground caves in Okinawa (that were used during the war). He reflected on the utter darkness he experienced there, what it was like to emerge into the light again, and how this is related to what the Bible says about "living as children of the light". After that, the class closed by singing a hymn.

中学校全員の集会が行われました。 高校に進級する３年生が中学校生活を振り返り、後輩たちにアドバイスを模造紙に書いて発表する形でメッセージを贈りました。１，２年生はお世話になったことへの感謝の言葉を贈りました。
Today junior high students got together to reflect on their continuation into high school. Third graders gave advice to first and second graders about what they wish they had done in junior high. First and second graders welcomed their advice gladly.

17時45分、補習の終わる時間に合わせてJR弘前駅ゆきの２台目のバスがでます。今日は座席がほぼ埋まっていたようです。
This is the 5:45pm bus for college prep course students (who usually finish classes after 5pm). This is the last bus going to the station from Seiai today, and it looks quite full.

５・６校時は中学校の授業参観がありました。写真は２年の技術。コンピュータで絵を描く場面では教師に勧められて近くまでいってのぞき込んだり、空いている機械で実際にさわってみたりと参加型の参観でした。
This afternoon during fifth and sixth periods, junior high parents were invited to come and sit in on their students' lessons. Pictured here is a second grade computer lesson about computer aided drawing. The room was crowded with parents peering over the shoulders of the children.

13日に行われた高校の一般入試の発表です。ひとりまた一人と見に来ていました。あいにくの雪でちょっと寒そうです。
Today the results of the entrance test were posted. People who came to school today didn't have an easy trip. As you can see, it's snowing a bit.

高校２年B組が調理実習でした。 今回は自由献立で、予算は１５００円。何を作るを考えるところから材料を用意して調理までグループで全部計画します。手軽さからか季節柄か鍋料理のグループが多かったのですが、教師の計画通りでない料理はひと味違ったようです。
Today for Home Ec class, students from 2B were free to make their own meal on a 1500 yen budget. Most groups made a seasonal "pot cooking" dish called "nabe". The project was minimally planned my the teacher, and left mostly to student discernment.

放課後です。昨日から雪でまた冬に戻ってしまいました。今朝の礼拝は英語礼拝。ニック先生のクリスチャンが神の命令に従うのは友情と愛からというお話でした。
Starting yesterday the real winter snow returned. This is the scene after school today. This morning Mr. Nick spoke in chapel about how Christians follow God's commands because they love Him.

13日に行われた高校一般入試の採点をしています。 合格発表は20日です。
Today, teachers graded the entrance exams. The students who passed will be announced on the 20th of this month.

高校一般入試でした。８時20分までに教室に入ることになっていますが、７時半にはもう、たくさんの受験生と送ってくる保護者の車で混み合っていました。
Today was the entrance test for students who hope to enter Seiai next year. Although the test started at 8:20, some students came as early as 7:30. Many students came to take the test, and by test time, the parking lot was packed with cars.

高校一般入試準備の日で中学生も含めて１時間の授業のあと掃除と教室整備をして午前で帰りました。２時から４時まで受験生の下見ができました。今年は例年より多くの受験生が見に来ていました。
Tomorrow is the entrance test, and today after first period, students cleaned the school especially well in preparation for the examinees. In the afternoon, students who will be taking the test tomorrow were able to come and see the rooms. More students came this year than usual.

寒さをものともせずに、SPG(応援団）がロッカールームで練習しています。２グループに分かれ、グループごとにダンスを確認したり、２年生が１年生を指導したりと自分たちで計画して練習しているようです。
Despite the cold, the cheerleading team is practicing in the main entrance hall. The students split into two groups. First graders danced, while second graders coached and gave advice. Students are also planning their practice schedule and routines by themselves.

礼拝堂近くの木に珍しい鳥がやってきました。アカゲラだと思います。今日は中学校第二回一般入試でした。
Today was the second round of the junior high entrance test. Outside the chapel there was a rare bird. I believe it's a great spotted woodpecker.

高校１年のスキー教室でした。昨夜平地では雨。今朝は雪のちらつく天気でしたがスキー場の状態はよかったでしょうか。
Today was the ski lesson for first grade high schoolers. Last night there was rain here, but this morning the rain turned to snow. Everyone was relieved to see the fresh snow.

Today was the ski lesson for second grade high schoolers at Owani ski resort. They were blessed with good weather and an enjoyable ski time.

毎年この時期に、家からお米1合ずつ持ち寄ることをお願いし、東京台東区のまりや食堂に送っています。まりや食堂とは、日雇い労働者の方々に栄養ある弁当を格安で提供している所で、日本キリスト教団山谷兄弟の家伝道所が中心となり運営しています。今日は、今までに集まった約１９０キロのお米を、宗教部の教師が袋に詰めかえました。今週末まで、お米の持ち寄りを呼びかけています。
Every year at about this time, we ask students to bring some rice from home to donate to a charity called "Maria Cafeteria" in Tokyo - a ministry of the Nihon Kirisuto Kyodan Denomination . Maria Cafeteria sells lunches cheaply to day-laborers who are in need. So far we have gathered 190 kilograms of rice. This morning members of the religion department gathered donations from the homerooms and put them into a few large bags to get them ready for shipping. We are still excepting donations until the end of the week.
