今日は９月の献金日でした。献金先は広島にある「清鈴園運動を支える 会」です。清鈴園は原爆のために後遺症に苦しんだり、身寄りをなくした方々の ための老人ホームです。原爆は６３年も前のことですが、今も苦しんでいる方々 を覚えて、今年も献金を送ります。
Today was the monthly offering. The proceeds will go to a nursing home in Hiroshima that specializes in taking care of atomic bomb victims. The blast was more than 63 years ago, but still, people are suffering because of it's effects. We annually send funds to this nursing home in Hiroshima.

中学校では日専連と協力し、約３ヶ月お花を育ててきました。“花いっぱい運動”と呼んできました。 今日は育てた花を引き渡す日でした。引き渡し式では生徒たちが感想を一言ずつ話しました。ほとんどの生徒が植物を育てる難しさを感じたようです。 お花は今後、プロのお花屋さんにより整えられ、土手町にある、まちなか情報セ ンターに置かれる予定です。
Junior high students have been participating in a service project called the "Full of Flowers Project". The students have been tending their flowers for 3 months, and today they gave the flowers to city officials at a special ceremony. Almost all students commented on the difficulty of raising flowers, and how the experience has made them more appreciative of the plant life they see everyday. The flowers will be professionally arranged and put on display outside the downtown visitor's center.

１０月４日（土）に体験入学と学校説明会が行われます。SPG（応援団）は、３年生が引退し、新チームでスタンツを披露します。そのため日々地道に練習を重ねています。実際に体を動かしながらメンバーの配置や動きを確かめて曲ごとにみんなで構成を考え修正する作業をしています。
This Saturday there will be a special visitation day for students interested in attending Seiai next year. The cheerleaders have been practicing especially hard for their performance on Saturday.

中学３年生は１０月２３日から語学研修でオーストラリアへ行きます。今日は保護者説明会が行われました。業者の方から行程の最終説明があり，ホームステイ先や、シドニーの街や気候の様子などから、持ち物、服装などの注意すべき点を確認しました。
Today there was a meeting for parents of students who will be going to Australia next month. A travel agent came to explain the final details of the homestay and tour. They also gave some general info about like typical weather, city layout, things to pack, appropriate clothing, etc.

中学生が提出した夏休みの課題が廊下に展示されています。一つは、本の紹介をする「私のおすすめ本」。“赤毛のアン”や“五体不満足”などを取り上げています。もう一つは、地域の問題点を見つけ、どう改善すべきかをわかりやすく提案する「地域レポート」、“家庭から出るゴミを減らす案” や、“水のムダ使いについて”などのレポートがあります。
The junior high summer homework projects are now on display in the main hallway. Projects were on topics like "Books I Would Recommend", "No One is Perfect", etc. Other reports were about more practical issues like "How to Reduce Garbage at Home" and "Wasteful Water Habits: What Not to Do".

高校３年Cクラス担当礼拝でした。 お話は旧約聖書・創世記４章のカインとアベルの物語より。 特に現代や自分との関係を考えて話してくれました。 この後、クラスで“この世のなみかぜさわぎ”（II編１５７番）を合唱しました。
Today homeroom 3C led the morning chapel. Students spoke on the story of Cain and Abel, and tried to relate it to their every day lives in the present. The whole class sang Hymn #157 while students were being dismissed.

野球部が秋季県大会に出場し、八戸工大一高と対戦しました。５回の攻撃では一気に９点をとり逆転しましたが、結果は１２対１３で負けてしまいました。 土曜日ということもあり、試合会場の弘前市運動公園球場にはSPG（応援団）、吹奏楽部をはじめ、引退した３年生野球部員や在校生、卒業生、保護者や教職員が来て応援していました。
The baseball team played their first game of the fall tournament today against Hachinohe Tech. With a sudden reversal in the ninth inning, Seiai lost closely, 12 to 13. The game was in Hirosaki, so the cheer leading squad, pep band were there to cheer the boys on. Many alumni, current students, parents and teachers also came to cheer on the team.

今日は中学二年サイエンススクールです。六ケ所村の日本原燃ＰＲセンターで原 子力エネルギーについて学習しました。 今、理科の授業では「エネルギー資源の利用」の単元を学習しています。私たち は、限りあるエネルギーを効率よく安全に使うにはどうしたらよいかをこれから の授業で考えていきます。
Today second grade junior highers went to the visitor center at Rokkasho nuclear fuel reprocessing plant to learn about nuclear energy. Their current science unit is about "energy resources". Students were encouraged to consider the limits of our energy resources, as well as energy efficiency, and how to use our resources safely.

中学スタンダードコース７時間目・選択美術の授業風景です。全学 年合同で、梅原先生、秋田先生の指導のもと行われています。今は第２回全国中学校術 部作品展（アートクラブグランプリ in SAKAI）に出展する作品を描いています。
Today during seventh period, junior high students who took elective art this year prepared their pieces for the national junior high art exhibition.

中学校で弁論大会が行われ、クラス予選を通過した合計１３名が発表しました。特に１年生が堂々としていたのが印象的でした。最優秀賞に選ばれた弁論のテーマは「少年犯罪とアニメ」についてのものでした。
The junior high speech contest (in Japanese) was held this afternoon. Thirteen students who were chosen by their homerooms particiapted. Many of their presentations were thoughtful and impressive. The topic of the winning piece was "Juvenile Delinquency and Anime, a Myth?"

高校３年Ｂクラスの担当礼拝でした。お話は旧約聖書創世記１章２７節の人間創造から考えたこと。クラスの合唱は讃美歌II編１６１番（輝く日を仰ぐとき）でした。担当礼拝では、生徒が入場する間に演奏する前奏から、讃美歌の伴奏、後奏まで全て生徒が担当します。生徒はオルガンを弾き慣れないので、ピアノになることが多いのですが、今日もピアノの綺麗な後奏を聞きながら教室へと戻りました。
Today's chapel was lead by homeroom 3B. There was an opening Disney song played on the piano for prelude. The sermon reflected on the creation of man from Genesis 1:27 and the closing hymn (#161) was sung by all the members of the homeroom, accompanied again by a student pianist, while the rest of the students were being dismissed.

明日から中体連が始まります。中央廊下にトーナメント表が張られ ています。バスケットボール（女子）、バドミントン（女子）、剣道、体操競 技、新体操に出場します。
Some of the regional tournaments will start tomorrow. Brackets to show Seiai's progress in basketball, badminton, gymnastics, etc. have been put up in the main corridor.

中学では１７日（水）に校内弁論大会が行われます。今日はクラス予選が１年生で行われました。テーマの設定は自由で、多くの生徒が、夢や学校、地球温暖化についてなど、身近な話題をもとに話しました。聞いている生徒も内容や声の大きさ、早さを評価しました。
The junior high will have their speech contest next Wednesday. Today in class, first grade junior highers practiced giving their speeches. Topics ranged from their future dreams to school life, global warming, etc. Students chose topics that suited them best. Students who were listening rated the speaking students on topic, voice, pace, etc.

今年もホームルーム担当礼拝が始まりました。礼拝の司会、奏楽、お祈り、お話の全てをクラスごとに生徒が担当します。最初は高校３年Ａクラスでした。ルカによる福音書１０章の“善いサマリア人”からのお話でした。最後にクラスで“わがたましいのしたいまつる”（讃美歌５１２番）を合唱しました。
Today's chapel, lead by homeroom 3A, marks the beginning of this year's student lead chapels. Students are in charge of the music, prayer, and sermon. They reflected on the meaning of the good Samaritan from Luke chapter 10 and closed with Hymn #512

先日スポーツ大会が行われましたが、中学校では時間と天候の都合 でできなかった卓球とフットサルを、一時間目に行いました。どちらも学年対抗 でしたが、下級生が上級生に勇敢に立ち向かっていました。
Because of bad weather and time constraints, etc. Students weren't able to play futsal during Sports Day. So today, junior high students from all grades got to play futsal together during first hour homeroom. There was a small tournament between the three grades. Underclassmen played courageously against the upperclassmen.

手芸部の活動風景です。１０月４日（土）の高校体験入学の準備を しています。他に、お手玉やお人形、ぬいぐるみを作り、お年寄りや小児科の病院にお届けしています。現在部員は１４名で頑張っています。
Today the handcrafts club meet together. They are preparing for Seiai's open campus day on October 4th. They make things like beanbags, dolls, and stuffed animals for the elderly and small children. Currently there are 14 club members.

キリスト教教育週間第２日目です。今日は大島藤倉学園の学園長をしておられる岩下よし子先生の講演を聞きました。また、弘前南教会の松村枝美牧師による聖書の学習もありました。
Today is the second and final day of Christian Education Days. Todays speakers were Aomori native Yoshiko Iwashita, principal of Oshima Fujikura Gakuen (a group home and school for the mentally challenged) in Oshima near Shizuoka-ken and Hirosaki Minami Church's Emi Matsumura.

キリスト教教育週間第１日目です。開会礼拝の後、奉仕活動と映画鑑賞を 行いました。奉仕活動ではクラスごとに分かれて老人ホームや福祉施設、保育園 など、計３７箇所におじゃまし、交流や掃除を行いました。地域の方々の支えに よって行うことのできる奉仕活動です。写真はダビデ保育園です。一週間やっているわけではないのですがクリスマスと合わせてやっていた時代の名残です。
Today is the first day of "Christian Education Days". After the opening ceremony, students went out to do service projects. Pictured here, a Seiai student helps out at a daycare center. Other students also helped out at nursing homes and community clean ups.

中学３年生は10月にオーストラリアへ海外語学研修へ行きます。今日はロングホームルームを利用し、海外語学研修の説明が行われました。例えば、ホームステイ先に喜ばれる日本のおみやげにはどのようなものがあるのか、けん玉などはどうだろうか、といった具体的な説明がありました。日本のこともちゃんと知っている必要があります。
In October third grade junior highers will have a homestay in Australia. This morning for long homeroom, there was a lesson on practical language use for homestays. Students also talked about appropriate souvenirs and how to explain their life in Japan to their families.
