日の沈む場所がずいぶんと南によってきました。冬至が近いですね。
The sunset was amazing today. The winter solstice is quickly approaching.

１２月２日からイエス・キリストの誕生を待ち望むアドヴェント（降誕節）に入ります。 それに先立ち、本日各クラスの宗教委員がクリスマス・リースを作成し、中央廊下に飾りました。たくさんならんだリースを見て、三度目のクリスマスを向かえる高校３年の生徒たちが「ひいらぎかざろう」（讃美歌Ⅱ編１２９番）を口ずさみながら通り過ぎて行きました。
December 2nd is the first Sunday of Advent. Today students on the religion committee started their advent preparations by hanging wreaths in the main hallway - each homeroom makes one wreath. Some third year students were humming "Deck the Halls" as they walked through the freshly decorated hallway.

高校２年Ｄクラスの担当礼拝でした。聖書は新約聖書・ローマの信徒への手紙 １２章１５節より。生徒のお話は「“共に喜び、共に泣く”ことの大切さを、沖縄への修学旅行を通して知った。私は看護師になりたいが、その大切なことを忘れず、苦手なこ とを少しずつ直したい」という内容でした。その後、クラス全員で“Amazing Grace”を英語で歌いました。
This morning homeroom 2D lead morning chapel. The Bible reading was from Romans 12:15, "Rejoice with those who rejoice. Mourn with those who morn". The speaker talked about how she wanted to be a nurse, and how it is important to remember the pain of the sick and the weak while you are helping them. The class also sang "Amazing Grace" in English as a postlude.

高校二年生の修学旅行報告展示会が行われています。生徒が旅行前から調べて作成したノートや、グループごとに作成したかべ新聞、おみやげが展示されています。来年修学旅行に行く高校一年生たちが早速やって来て、ノートや新聞を読んでいました。この展示会は２９日（木）までです。
Pictured here, students are looking at the exhibits second year students made about their school trip. Especially first year students are interested since they will have the opportunity to go on the same trip next year. The exhibition will be in the main meeting room until Thursday.

弘前市にあるFMラジオ局アップルウェーブに本校のハンドベルが流れます。期末試験にかかるので今日の収録となりました。中学生一名を含む音楽部８名の演奏に聖書朗読が加わって本校のクリスマスの紹介もしています。放送は１２月５日（水）の夕方17:35からのスクール☆ナビです。
Today "Apple Wave FM" recorded a performance of Christmas music and Bible reading by the Seiai Handbell Club. The program will air on "Apple Wave FM" at 5:35 pm on Wednesday December 5th.

昼休みに評議員会が行われました。昼休みの会議はお弁当を持って参加です。今日は１２月に行われる生徒総会の議題についての話し合いをしました。
Today the student council had a meeting over lunch. They discussed upcoming student council events and responsibilities for the month of December. With Christmas coming up, next month will be a busy but enjoyable time for all of us.

高校２年Cクラスの担当礼拝でした。聖書は新約聖書・マタイによる福音書７章１節より。 生徒のお話は「修学旅行でイタリアに行った。街にはポイ捨てされた ゴミが多かった。しかし、自分も自宅の部屋で似たことをしている。イタリアへ 行って、自分を見つめることの大切さを知った…」。その後、クラスで“Jesus Loves Me! This I know”（主われを愛す　讃美歌461番）を英語で歌いました。
Today homeroom 2C lead chapel. 2C is the English Course homeroom. The order of service was in English, and the class sang "Jesus Loves Me". However, the sermon and ending prayer were in Japanese. The sermon was on Matthew 7, "Remove the plank in your own eye, then remove the speck from your brother's eye." The student talked about the class trip to Italy, and how he judged the Italians for having so much litter everywhere. However, he doesn't clean his own room at home, and it resembles the streets of Italy with the amount of garbage he piles up.

全校集会が行われました。作品応募で受賞した生徒や文化部・運動部に賞状が渡されました。引き続き、高校二年生の生徒二名が修学旅行（海外）の報告をしてくれました。なお、修学旅行の報告展示が２７日（火）～２９日（木）に本校大会議室で行われます。
At this morning's assembly, students from the drama club and sports clubs were recognized. Also, two students who went on the school trip to Italy spoke. Students who went on either the domestic or the international trip made posters telling about their experiences. These "reports" will be on display in the meeting room until Thursday.

まとまった雪が昨夜から降り、今朝は辺り一面銀世界となりまし た。登校時間の弘前の気温はマイナス２℃。午後には太陽が顔を出しましたが、 最高気温は３℃ほどのようです。昼休みには雪で遊ぶ元気な生徒もいました。
Starting last night, heavy snow descended on Hirosaki. During school today the temperature was -2 degrees, the high in the afternoon was about 3 degrees Celsius. Some daring students went outside to play in the snow during the lunch hour.

校内進路ガイダンスが行われました。全体会では、３企業、６学校 の説明を伺いました。その後、１０の会場に分かれて行われた分科会では、さら に詳しい説明を聞き、質問の時間もありました。保護者、生徒共に、担当者のお 話をじっくり聞きました。実際に学校で学ぶことを体験する分科会もありました。
Today there was a career guidance meeting at Seiai. Three businesses and six colleges gave presentations. Students and parents could then talk with representatives individually for more detailed questions.

昨日に続き、今日は高校２年生の英語暗唱大会が行われました。課 題は有名な“Amazing Grace”（アメイジング・グレイス、歌詞）です。１８人の 生徒が臨みました。「講壇に上ったら頭が真っ白になり、覚えたはずの英語がな かなか出てこなくて困った」とある女子生徒は言ってました。２年生も頑張りま した。
Today was the English Recitation Contest for second year high school students. The passage students memorized was the first verse of the song "Amazing Grace". Eighteen students participated in the final round. "Up on stage you get worried, but you just have to trust that you remember the words you memorized and do it," one female student said. We're also proud of our second year students' performance.

高校１年で“英語暗唱大会”が行われました。クラス予選で選出された合計１７名が、“The Lord's prayer”（主の祈り）を披露し、４人のネイティブスピーカーをゲストに評価してもらいました。１位になった生徒にはトロフィーも授与されました。みんな緊張していたようですが、頑張りました。途中には、ピアノの綺麗な演奏もありました。
Today was the recitation contest for first year students. Seventeen students were selected by their homerooms to participate in the final round of the speech contest today. The passage was "the Lord's Prayer" in English. The judges were four English natives. The winner of first prize received a trophy. Contestants were nervous, but they all did well. There was also a piano medley for the intermission.

高校２年Ｂクラスの担当礼拝でした。聖書は新約聖書ペトロの手紙 Ⅰ４章１０節より。「志（こころざし）と向上心を持って、良かったことだけで なく、うまくいかなかった物事も受け入れ、生きていきたい」と担当の生徒が話してくれました。その後、“きみのたまものと”（讃美歌Ⅱ編１８８番）をクラスで歌いました。
Homeroom 2B lead chapel this morning. They read from 1 Peter 4:10. The student speaker talked about his desire to improve himself in spite of the problems that come his way. Then the class sang Hymn #188 while students returned to their classrooms.

この季節、透き通るような赤になる梅、赤から黄色の色の変化が楽しめる桜、とにかく鮮やかなドウダンツツジ、礼拝堂横の楓などたくさんの紅葉が楽しめますが、夜は校庭を照らす水銀灯のそばのイチョウが光を受けてとてもきれいです。毎年楽しみにしています。今年はもう少し。
These are leaves of a plum tree. They have recently changed from red to a yellow-brown color. They are near a maple tree near the chapel. Every year I look forward to seeing them change color.

高校２年の担当礼拝が始まりました。初めはAクラスです。 「修学旅行で沖縄の戦争跡を見た。私たちの日常生活で の当たり前は、戦争時代を考えると当たり前ではないことを知った。私はソフト ボールの練習を当たり前のようにできるが、戦争があればこんなことはできない、 一日一日を感謝し大切にしたい」というお話でした。この後、クラス全員で“すべてのもの統（し）らすかみよ”（讃美歌Ⅱ編５９）を歌いました。
This morning second year high school students were in charge of chapel. Beginning with homeroom 2A (pictured here) all the second year homerooms will take turns leading chapel. The student speaker spoke about her thoughts on war. During the school trip to Okinawa she saw the battlegrounds of the Okinawa Battle. She shared her reflections on how we take our everyday lives for granted. After that, the entire class sang Hymn 59 for a postlude as the other students went back to their classrooms.

中学校では弦楽四重奏“カルテット・リベルテ　コンサート”が６時 間目に礼拝堂で行われました。国内外で活躍されている演奏者のすぐ側で、素晴 らしい演奏を生徒はもちろん教師と保護者（７名）も聴かせていただきました。
This afternoon junior high students and teachers enjoyed a string quartet performance, "Quartet Liberte Concerto". The musicians have performed at home and abroad. They are very skilled. Their music defiantly spoke to the students. Seven parents also attended the concert.

来年度の生徒会役員を選ぶため、立会演説会が行われました。「今 まで生徒会活動に関わり、会長の存在の大きさを知った。私も皆に頼られるよう な生徒会長となり、聖愛を支えていきたい」、と、生徒会長に立候補した生徒 （男子）は決意表明をしました。
This morning, during first period, a student council assembly was held. Candidates for next year gave campaign speeches saying why they want to be a student council member, and how they would help the school.

聖愛中学校の第二回学校説明会が行われました。高校受験がないた めに可能な中高一貫校教育の意義や、高校を見越した聖愛中学ならではの具体的 な取り組みを教頭が説明しました。また、中学二年生の生徒二名（スタンダード コース・アドバンスコース各一名）が実際の学校生活を紹介しました。出席者は 児童・保護者計約４０名でした。
Today about 40 parents came to an explanatory meeting for junior high parents. The Junior High Vice Principal gave concrete examples of how the junior high efforts in both curriculum and programs help prepare students for high school.

落ち葉がたくさん。地面がアスファルトだとそのままにしておけないようです。背負っているのは風で吹き飛ばして集める道具です。
With fall finishing up, there are many leaves on the Seiai grounds. Here a janitor uses a portable leafblower to collect the leaves in the parking lot.

来週より高校２年生のホームルーム担当礼拝が始まります。最初は ７日（水）、担当はＡクラスです。今日はお話をする生徒が聖書の先生と相談をしながら準備をしていました。
Starting next week, second year students will begin leading morning worship. Homeroom 2A will be the first to lead. Their chapel service will be this Wednesday. With the help of their homeroom teacher, students are busy preparing for the service. They are choosing the hymns and Bible reading, as well as which students will speak, lead prayer, sing, etc.
