今日は８月の献金日でした。広島にある「清鈴園運動を支える会」をおぼえて献金しました。 清鈴園は原爆のために後遺症に苦しんだり、身寄りをなくした方々のための老人ホームです。 わたしたちのできることは小さなことですが、毎年おぼえて献金を送り続けています。
The monthly offering was taken today. This month we are sending the money to a nursing home for Hiroshima atomic bomb survivors suffering from sequela. It is only a small thing, but we send them a donation every year.

今年も今週から私学助成署名運動が始まります。私立学校に国や地方公共団体から支給される助成金を増額してほしいという署名です。県にとっては私立学校がある分、教育にかかる費用を安く済ませられるという側面があります。私立に通わせている親は税金で公立の教育を支えながら自分の子どものために十分なサービスを受けられていないという不公平も生じています。
Seiai is collecting signatures on a petition for increased funding for private schools from the government. Both public and private schools receive funding from the government, but private schools receive a substantially smaller amount. The petition is aimed at righting this unbalance.

高校３年Ｅクラスの担当礼拝でした。聖書はルカによる福音書１５ 章「放蕩息子のたとえ」より。「ここには『自分の子どもたちのどちらも大切に したい』という親の純粋な思いが記されている。放蕩の限りを尽くした弟の帰宅 を歓迎する父親に兄は不満を抱く。しかし兄も大切にされている。私たちは、今 生きていること、今学校で学べることを親に感謝し、ありがたみを自覚する必要 がある」という安彦さんのお話でした。この後、“山べにむかいてわれ”（讃美歌 ３０１番）をハンドベルの音色と共にクラスで合唱しました。
Today homeroom 3E lead the morning chapel service. They spoke on the prodigal son in Luke 15, and there was a handbell postlude.

弘前は暑い日が続いています。岩木山には雲がかかっていますが、雲も非常に少ない日です。この分だと、今晩夕刻より始まる皆既月食も見られそ うです。
It's another hot day here under Mount Iwaki, and the sky is partly cloudy. Also, tonight in Japan there will be a full eclipse of the moon.

９月１４日（金）・１５日（土）に“文化の集い”が行われます。１４日はステージ発表。弘前市民会館で希望するクラスや部活が歌や踊り、劇などを発表します。今年は夏休み中から取り組むクラスがかなりありましたが、今日も３年Ｄクラスが放課後に練習をしていました。
The school festival is coming up on September 14th & 15th. On the 14th there will be a "Stage Performance" Day at the Hirosaki Civic Center. Pictured here, homeroom 3D practices for their performance after school in the AV room.

礼拝堂の屋根の葺き替えが始まりました。右が古いトタン。左が新しいものです。少しずつ張り替えていっています。
Today the workers started redoing the chapel roof. On the left is the new galvanized roofing, and on the right side is the old roof.

昨日は７月の野球の全校応援の代休。今日から授業の始まりました。夏休み中に自転車置き場の塗装をし直しました。木の枝の下はかなりの落ち葉などがたまっていて高圧水流で流してから塗っていました。
During summer break the bike shelters in the parking lot were sandblasted and repainted. A considerable amount of leaves and dirt had accumulated on and around the shelters. It's nice to see them clean again.

高等学校体験入学がありました。約580人の中学生と50人の引率の先生、保護者の方々が参加してくださいました。まず19の体験授業からあらかじめ選んだものを受けます。写真は「使える受験数学　関数編」　第一希望の人が14名、抽選にもれて第２第３希望で来た人が14人のクラスでした。大人気だったのは理科のアイスクリームづくり、一応凝固点降下の勉強。家庭科の「白玉ＤＥアート」でした。
Today was an "open campus" day for junior high students who are interested in attending Seiai High School next year. About 580 students and 50 parents and guardians came to "open campus". Pictured here is a sample math class. However, the most popular lesson this summer was a hands-on science lesson about the freezing point of ice cream.

授業の後は部の展示や活動の様子を見に行ったり、ブラスバンドやSPGの演技や、バレー、バスケット、バドミントンの紅白試合を見ました。

今日は始業式に続き、平和を考える日特別礼拝がありました。伊藤信彦牧師（日本キリスト教団内丸教会(盛岡)）が世界の食糧問題についてお話ししてくれました。ヨハネによる福音書６章にある5000人のパンの奇跡はイエスが何もないところからたくさんのパンを出したのでなく、ひとりの少年がもっていた大麦のパンを五つと小さい魚をたくさんに増やしたということに注目して、わたしたちの小さな力ではじめることが大切だと教えられました。
Today at the opening ceremony guest speaker Pastor Itoh Nobuhiko spoke about world hunger. He spoke on the story where Jesus feeds 5000 people with five loaves and three fish in John 6. The miracle started with the boy bringing only five loaves of bread and three fish. As people we must bring our small abilities together to start a miracle.

吹奏楽部の第33回定期演奏会が弘前市民会館にて行われました。部員33名が日頃の練習の成果を出し、美しい音色を響かせていました。
Today there was a band concert at the Hirosaki Civic Center. Our students have been practicing hard, and they shined tonight. There are 33 students in the Seiai band.

３部構成で写真は第２部のドリルです。 ３年生最後の定期演奏会とあって気持ちの入った演奏会でした。
The last number at the band concert was a performance by the marching band. This is the last performance for the third year students, and it was understandably full of emotion.

野球部は今日、講師の先生をお招きしエアロビクスの講習会をしました。 体は動かし慣れているとはいえ、いつもとは全然違い戸惑っていました。 それにしても、坊主頭にエアロビクスはちょっと異様でした。
Today the baseball team had a guest instructor come to teach them aerobics. Aerobics build stamina, and stamina is a necessity for all athletes.

昨夜から断続的に強い雨です。水不足が心配されていましたが久しぶりにまとまった雨が降りました。改修作業のために大きくなりすぎた木の枝が切られて、礼拝堂の十字架がよく見えるようになっていました。暑い中、特進コースの補習が続いています。
During the repair work being done on the chapel, the branches were cut away from the cross on the roof. It is now clearly visible from all sides again. It rained heavily today, but we're glad to have it. There wasn't much snow this winter, and the rainy season wasn't very rainy. The reservoirs have been looking dry, and the farmers have been worried. Even though it rained, the weather is still hot and humid. And college track students continue to have extra lessons, clubs continue their practices.

今日から８月です。野球部は合宿３日目を迎えています。 朝の練習は５：３０から始まります。気温はなんと１６度です。 少し肌寒いくらいです。ソフトボール部は今日佐賀インターハイに向けて 出発しました。
The baseball boys are at a three day training camp. Today's practice started at 5:30 am. It was a little cold this morning, 16 degrees C. Also, the softball girls left today for the inter-high tournament in Kyushuu.
